Business Process
It’s what I did for most of my adult life, helping companies (some I was employed with, some I was sent to help by my employer) improve their business processes with more efficient use of data. I did learn early in my career that there is a major difference between efficiency and effectiveness. In those times when I was truly successful, I was able to make organizations see both efficient and effective processes.
And it wasn’t all that hard, tbh (as the kids say). Because at the heart of every process is a person or people. Change cannot be effected if the persons responsible for the new process do not understand it, disagree with it, or just don’t like the change. Those changes, in my experience, always lead to failure because the impacted people were not recognized, listened with, and had a real chance for input.
Sounds like how government should work, right? Do you think it’s working like that right now? Are your voices being recognized, listened with, and heard? There are lots of people who aren’t, and I’d venture to guess the vast majority of people in this country right now feel like someone without a voice.
My hope is we can save our democracy in these times. Because we all deserve to be recognized, listened with, and heard.
